One of the most common questions I get asked is "how much does a custom cake cost?" It's a fair question, and not always an easy one to answer, since pricing depends on size, design, and detail. To help you budget for your event, here's a breakdown of starting prices across some of my most popular options.

These are starting prices. The exact cost of your order will depend on the design, colours, and any extra detail you'd like, but this should give you a solid idea of what to expect.

Cupcakes (per dozen)

Number Cakes

  • Single number: from £65

  • Double digit: from £90


Celebration Cakes

  • Buttercream cake to feed 12 : from £65

Wedding Cakes

Wedding cakes are priced based on size, tier, and design style. Prices start from just £99 for a single tier to feed 30 and £175 for a dinky 2-tier feeding around 45 guests. Get in touch for a personalised quote.


Why Custom Cake Prices Vary So Much

If you've shopped around, you've probably noticed prices for what looks like a "similar" cake can be quite different from baker to baker. This usually comes down to a few things:

  • Time. A hand-piped, detailed design simply takes longer to create than a simple buttercream finish, and that time is reflected in the price.

  • Ingredients. Quality butter, chocolate, and flavourings cost more than budget alternatives, but make a noticeable difference in taste.

  • Skill level. Sculpted 3d models, sugar flowers, and intricate piping require years of practice to do well, and that expertise is part of what you're paying for.

  • Size and servings. A cake that feeds 80 naturally costs more than one feeding 20, simply due to the ingredients and time involved.


What's Included in the Price

Every cake is baked fresh, made by hand, and includes a consultation to talk through your flavours, design, and any dietary requirements. I'll also box your cake securely and, if you've chosen delivery, transport it carefully to your venue.


What Affects the Final Price?

A few things can move the price up from the starting point:

  • More intricate design work, sugar flowers, or hand-piped detail

  • Additional colours or fillings

  • Fondant figures or sculpted elements

  • Larger sizes or extra tiers

  • Delivery, depending on distance from Giffnock


Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver? Yes and no! Most celebration cakes are collected from my home bakery. However delivery is available for corporate and larger scale orders.

Do you charge for delivery? Yes, delivery is charged separately based on distance from Giffnock. Collection is available if you'd prefer not to pay a delivery fee.

Is a deposit required? Yes, a deposit is needed to secure your date once your design and price are confirmed. This protects your slot and the time and ingredients set aside for your order.

How far in advance should I order? As early as possible, especially for weddings or around busy periods like Christmas. This gives the most flexibility with both your date and design. I work alone, therefore my capacity is limited. Booking early to avoid disappointment.

Can I get an exact price before committing to anything? Yes. Getting a quote is free and doesn't commit you to anything. I'll only ask for a deposit once you're happy to go ahead.
